Our applications begin as cross platform mobile web apps. After the web app has been built and tweaked to perfection, we like to develop an iPhone application to get a feel for the popularity of the app in iTunes App Store. If all goes well, we move on from there to other platforms like Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Palm, Nokia, etc.

This approach allows you to reach the broadest audience with your mobile app initially before you begin developing for the rest of the mobile platforms.
